Effective November 24th, 2006 the cemetery belongs to the Municipality and we are responsible for it's upkeep. The Judgement further declared that the municipality is the new owner of the abandoned cemetery, must have a by-law acknowledging same, and is not to allow any further interments. Should the municipality learn of any interments subsequent to November 24, 2006, Council will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. Notice of same has been sent to all area funeral homes and Churches. A sign has been commissioned and will be posted at the Cemetery site as soon as possible. For your information we have included the Cemetery By-law as dictated by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ministry of Government Services' Registrar of Cemeteries. |
